Pig Dissection
At the beginning of the pig dissection, we were handed our freshly bathed pig and started out by doing what any normal group of teenage girls would do minutes before cutting into a squishy fetal pig; gave it a name. Jemima. Although Jemima was a dude, we thought the name was fitting, and thus, Jemima's reign began. We started by tying down his arms and legs underneath the dissection mat before we made cuts all the way around the belly button and down his sides near the rib cage. By then we were able to identify the liver, small intestine, large intestine, urinary tract/reproductive system, and diaphragm. We cut all the way up to the neck and found the esophagus, trachea, and the voice box. Over all, the pig dissection was really fun and educating.
